City Live is a privately held company, founded in January 2007 through a spin-off from i-City, the world’s first and largest living laboratory for mobile applications and services. This living laboratory is located in the wireless city of Hasselt, with the community acting as live test audience. Managed and driven by i-City, the local government, universities, high schools, public services and local businesses form an eco-system working together around that.
Siemens, Fujitsu Siemens, Microsoft, Telenet, Concentra Media and the Flemish Government founded this lab in 2004.
During the spin-off process, City Live acquired all rights and code of the platform as used within i-City in order to further develop and market it. This platform has been nominated “Best Technology Foresight” at the 2006 World Communication Awards.
