Palringo logo We’ve all become familiar with SMS on mobile phones; we’re also familiar with MMS—multimedia messaging service—which took things a step further. Palringo is a Rich Messaging Service—RMS—and is a step further on again.

In fact, Palringo is the first service to bring together the ability to exchange text, voice messages and pictures. Palringo brings together friends, family and colleagues across all popular instant messaging services, whether they’re sitting at a computer or on the move, whether they’re using a mobile phone or PDA. What this means is that Palringo closes the ‘rich-communications gap’ between messaging applications on desktop hardware (like PCs) and mobile hardware (like mobile handsets), and between those using different IM systems.

Who needs Palringo?
  • People who’d rather talk than type—even when sending instant messages;
  • People who want to travel light—but with all their buddies in their pocket;
  • People who don’t want to pay for SMS/text messaging;
  • People who have whole lists to whom they want to send text, voice or photos—even while on the move;
  • People on the go or in the field, where there are more pictures to take, events to describe, and information to share;
  • People who like their messaging to be fun!

Palringo is the answer to the always-available, always-connected, always-informed lifestyle. It’s the solution to the proliferation of IM tools/services—you have friends on four different services, and that’s too many to keep running at once. Currently, Palringo runs on Windows Mobile, Nokia Symbian S60 3rd Edition, and devices using the J2ME platform, which covers most major brands of devices released during the past three years, including BlackBerry. It also works on PCs running Windows XP and Vista. Mac OS and iPhone versions are in development.

Palringo is compatible with all the major IM services. After registering an e-mail address, users can download the free Palringo software for their phone and PC. (Palringo does not charge for use of the service. Users will only pay their data service provider for any data used.) Visit the Palringo Web site for more information. Palringo also offers messaging solutions for businesses.

Technology
Palringo is, in effect, a single purpose piece of software: it is an aggregator of other popular instant messaging services, which it has made available on mobile devices. The service is compatible with Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java-based clients.

In July 2008, Palringo announced the availability of its application for the iPhone via Apple’s App Store. This followed June 2008 announcements of a version of its service for RIM’s BlackBerry platform and the launch of the service in North America. Previously, its focus had been in the U.K. and Europe.

Executives
At 23, Palringo Chief Technical Officer Martin Rosinski is already an acclaimed engineer and innovator, having developed software that is currently used by major international companies including Ford, BMW, Siemens, SEAT and others and has developed embedded software that is currently used for alignment of geared transmission systems in all U.K. submarines and frigates. He won the Young Electronic Designer Awards for five consecutive years, taken top prize in the Young Engineer of the Year competition and twice won the Duke of York award for “Imaginative Design and Innovation.”

CEO Kerry Ritz is a veteran of a number of international telecom concerns, including Vonage and 3 (Hutchison 3G). He has extensive international experience, is a well-known speaker and panelist at conferences and events around the world and has also been a non-executive director of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA).
